Here we go! Our house is usually the land of chaos, so I don't really know how often I will post, but I will try to do it weekly. Here's hoping. A little update for what's going on in our world. Brock is 29 months and is potty training, and Nash will be nine months tomorrow and is pulling up and (finally) crawling on all fours! Cole is completely potty-trained and usually walks very well. :)
Our boys are 20 months apart, and living toddler life and infancy at the same time has been an unforgettable adventure. My life revolves around The Disney Channel, spanky spoons*, spit up, and toys! I love staying home and have come to appreciate synchronized nap times even more than a 40-percent off sale. Every day I learn something new, and I am constantly put in situations where I turn a lovely shade of scarlet. Hopefully the tales of my shenanigans will save another mother somewhere some embarrassment.
For example, last Thursday I learned that it is necessary to have a hide-a-key somewhere outside of your house. (It's very well hidden, so any burglars that might read this, you won't be able to find it. Don't waste your time.) A hide-a-key is essential because your sweet little boy might lock you out of the house without shoes or a phone, and you will be stuck standing on the front porch trying to teach him how to unlock the front door through the window. Here you will stand, hoping in the three minutes that you have been locked out, your nine-month-old hasn't turned on the oven and hopped in. You will worry about this even though before you were locked out, he wasn't able to stand on his own or reach the oven nob and door that is three feet higher than his head. When your little man finally unlocks the door and you get in, immediately find your hide-a-key, which is in the drawer under the laundry room sink, because that's the first place you would look, and hide it...outside! Side note: when you tell your husband this story, he might think it's funny, but when you turn and give him "the look", he will realize you aren't "there" yet and promptly stop. Live and learn...that's my motto!
That's all I have time for right now. I must return to my motherly duties and find something for lunch!
*In case you were wondering, a spanky spoon is a wooden spoon that is removed from it's special drawer when my little two-year-old does something he knows he's not supposed to. After the first verbal warning, the little offender is accompanied to his room by the spanky spoon and the mommy, where it is then put to use. WARNING...if you are ever in a kitchen store or unloading the dishwasher in front of company, your toddler might see a similar spoon, and repeatedly say with panic in his voice, "I not need the spanky spoon, momma!" Strange looks will follow. <3
